    Nevada

I got this from Aunt Illene.
History was made at Hoover Dam July 3rd - September 6th, 1983 when, due to excessive spring runoffs, the mighty Colorado River overflowed the floodgates at Hoover Dam, rushing through the Nevada and Arizona spillway tunnels at speeds approaching 120 mph. Each spillway is large enough to float a battleship and has a channel height equal to a 10-story building. The spillway floodgates were last tested in 1941.
